Our Fixer Upper Fall Tour: Front Porch

One of my favorite part of the new house is our giant front porch!  Even though the old floor boards need a little work (hopefully will get to this next spring/summer),  it is such a wonderful space to have and fun area to decorate!  Right now we have one side set up with a small table and chairs and the other with a bench.  We eventually want to definitely get a hanging porch swing for here.  The center of the porch is where our front door is and there are a double set of stairs leading up to the porch from the circular driveway in front of our house.

We lucked out on finding this cute little IKEA dining set a garage sale and it's the perfect size for the porch.   I created a simple centerpiece on the middle of the table with a few different colored pumpkins + wooden candlesticks.    I also found the hanging gold planters at a garage sale and filled them with my favorite fall plants: cabbages + kale!

Near the front door I have some more pumpkins and old distressed baskets filled with ferns (also garage sale finds).  This gold wreath on the front door is one of my favorite wreaths and I pretty much use it year round.  I layered it on top of a dried fall floral wreath that I found while thrifting.  Layering wreaths is my favorite way to create a one-of-a-kind statement piece for the front door.

Foddershocks have become one of my traditional decorations every year and I couldn't wait to decorate these columns with them!  This year I found these giant ones just down the road at the Woodford Feed Co. and they go all the way from the ground to the roof!

Since this area is protected from the rain I was able to pile my bench full of pillows + a cute plaid blanket.  The floral pillows are vintage barkcloth that I found at an estate sale, while the gingham + "Hello Fall" pillow were steals from the Target Dollar Spot.  The wool blanket is also a vintage find and a perfect pop of color.

No southern porch is complete without some mums and I love the pop of color they add especially in these vintage brass planters.  This little area by the door is probably my favorite little vignette on the porch.  I used an old piece of barnwood to make this vertical sign a couple years back.  It says "FALL" on one side and "JOY" on the other so I can use it for both fall and Christmas decorating.  In front of it I used an old wooden trough to hold some pumpkins, gourds, plant, sticks, and dried hydrangeas.  I also used a vintage basket beside it to hold a cluster of some more dried hydrangeas (I can't ever get enough!) and cornstalks.

Here you can see the full layout of the porch.  Future plans include replacing all the floorboards with black reclaimed wood and hopefully replacing that lattice at the bottom of the porch with something more solid and finished looking (maybe some kind of stonework or solid wood).  I'd also love to make some simple, real wood shutters like they use on Fixer Upper quite often.  For now though I'm enjoying having this extra outdoor space and just one more area for me to decorate!  While most of the items I used on this porch are thrifted or vintage, I've linked some similar options at the end of this post for you to shop.
